5 Reasons to keep a food diary
Do you still remember all the food that you eat last week? It is more than likely you have forgotten everything you have eaten! This is the critical issue when someone is trying to shed or lose weight.
You will be surprised at the power of writing down everything you consume in a week. As you practice this, you will be able to identify the foods that must be altered to obtain the desired results. This is a good habit for both dieters and non-dieters.
If you need to be persuaded, think about the following reasons why writing down the entire food you consume in a week is a good idea.
1.Snacking more than you recognize
Bring a note pad with you and list all the food and drink you consume. At the end of the day, you will recognize how much you have eaten. Many people discover that they have eaten far more unhealthy snacks than they realize.
2.Lack of fruits and veggies
Have you eaten 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day? Probably not close to that, may 2 or 3. After you have written down all the food you ate within the week, you will find out where you can introduce fresh fruits. If your meals do not contain veggies, then it is a good time to bring them in.
3.Drinking too many fizzy drinks.
Flavored drinks are high in calories and yet you will not feel full when you consume them. If you are gulping 5 cans of fizzy drinks daily, then you are taking in far too many grams of sugar. And even if you opt for the diet ones, you will not be able to completely eliminate sugar. Additives, caffeine and flavorings are not good for the body. Try swapping fizzy drinks for water or the occasional glass of fruit juice
4.Too much junk food
Keep track of what you eat, where you eat, and the budget for the food. Recognize that junk foods are way costlier than your major meals and more importantly are usually loaded with calories and fat.
5.Not enough variety
Have you noticed that you are eating the same meals daily? Possibly your breakfast is the same kind of cereal, lunch is the same boring sandwich, and dinner rotates around the same microwave meals. Try to incorporate more selection or eat something which is totally new to your taste buds.
Try this for 1 week, and you will find the areas that need to be improved and this should help lead to a healthy weight loss.
