Hoodia Gordoni

Hoodia Gordoni are cactus-like plants that grow in the semi-desert areas of South Africa, Namibia and Angola. The plant is also known as xhooba, ikhoba, Ghaap and Hoodia cactus.

It has an active component, a molecule called P57, which reduces your feelings of hunger and makes you feel full more quickly. Historically, the San Bushmen of the Kalahari desert used Hoodia Gordoni during their long hunting trips. They would eat the stem of the plant to stave off hunger pangs and to quench their thirst. Even today, the natives still chew the leaves of the plant to stave off starvation and exhaustion.

The plant has a number of species. However, the one most closely associated with suppressing the appetite is Hoodia Gordoni. Hoodia Gordoni is very rare and is protected by conservation laws in South Africa and Namibia. To pick the plant, a permit is necessary. Pure Hoodia iGoroni is therefore very expensive and is often mixed with other ingredients to produce a reasonably priced product.

In its natural form, Hoodia Gordoni is very bitter and its taste has been compared to that of a dry, harsh cucumber. However, as a diet supplement, it is available in a variety of different forms including pills, patches, liquids and coffee and where needed, flavourings are added to improve the taste.

Using Hoodia Gordoni on its own does not guarantee weight loss. Its effectiveness also depends on its use with other methods for achieving and sustaining weight loss such as good nutrition and regular exercise. It should also be noted that the quality of Hoodia Gordoni products currently on the market vary widely in quality and the amount of Hoodia Gordoni used in some products may not be enough to produce the desired effects. Ultimately, in choosing a diet supplement, you should aim for one that is scientifically proven and medically supported.
